Early Life
Sajjan was born on September 9, 1991, in Kathmandu. He was interested in singing and songwriting from an early age. Sajjan’s parents were also music lovers, his father particularly loving English pop songs and his mother listening to folk and Nepali pop songs. Maybe that’s how he brings the unique fusion of Nepali folk in the pop genre. He completed his schooling education from Aadarsha Vidhya Mandir, Man Bhaban Lalitpur. He used to sing in school programs and started publishing his composition on Facebook. He then moved to New York but that did not stop him from his interest in music. He then released his first debut single Aaja Matra in 2014.
Music Career
DEBUT AND RECOGNITION
Initially, Sajjan started his music career through cover songs. He used to upload his cover songs on his youtube channel which got recognition from Nepali Youngsters for his unique vocals. Some of his hit cover songs are Leho House, All of Me, One- Ed Sheeran, etc. Then, Sajjan started to compose his own songs.
Sajjan debuted with Aaja Matra in 2014 which was not a successful debut. It was followed by Hawaijahaaj in 2016 which earned him some recognition in the music industry. The music video was produced by Fuzzfactory Productions and he was publically acclaimed for his vocals, lyrics, and composition. He then released Anoutho Mutu, Chithi Bhitra, and Muskan in 2018.
HATARIDAI BATASIDAI: MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH
Sajjan then released a song namely Hataridai Batasidai in 2019, featuring the LGBTQ concept in his music videos. The music video and the song garnered a lot of attention from the public. The song was a major hit and established Sajjan as one of the finest musicians of Nepal. He was well acclaimed for addressing the LGBTQ which is uncommon in Nepal.
PAHAAR: FIRST OST
Sajjan was featured for the ost for the web series Just Another Lovestory starring Priyanka Karki and Shristi Shrestha. The song was hit than the web series itself. This was Sajjan’s other song supporting LGBTQ.
SOMEBODY ELSE: ENGLISH DEBUT
Sajjan then released an English song namely Somebody else. The song was well acclaimed for its deeper meaning and the music video that has a social message.
KURAKAANI AND FUTKERA JANEY JOVAN
Sajjan released his single Kurakaani which was publically acclaimed. With the covid pandemic affecting the entire world, Sajjan released the song Futkera Janey Jovan, the music video of which comprises short clips of people enjoying their Quarantine. The song was a massive hit.
KATHA: THE VIDEO SERIES
Sajjan started Katha in 2018 which features the behind scenes of songwriting, composition, live acoustic covers, and so on. The series also featured Bikki Gurung and his story behind the making of the hit song Mari Jau.
