She was born in Kathmandu in a filmy family background as her father was a film director and actor. Some notable movie of her father Bishwa Basnet includes “Anyaya”, “Sindur”, “Nata”. She was very passionate about modeling and desires to be known as a supermodel. Actually, she did not want to study BBA, but her mother wanted to have it. She wanted to go to the New York film academy to study acting. However, she finished her Bachelors’s Degree in Business Administration-Banking & Insurance (BBA-BI) from the Ace Institute of Management in 2015.

Nirisha already represented Nepali culture and tradition for the talent around in Miss Tourism Queen International 2015 held in China from the 28th of October till the 11th of November. She is a winner of Model Quest International Nepal 2015 organized by Youhaan International Events Pvt. Ltd. In the event, Nirisha was also the winner of the Miss Personality award.

After completion of bachelor level education, she went to Mumbai to become an air hostess but they were recruiting Indian passport holders. She learned about this at the last minute but everything had been done already so she explored for opportunities and came to modeling. Still, things were not working well.
She got selected for dramatic television series Chandra Nandini in the last three episodes. That was her turning point in a modeling career. She got a chance to work in the debut movie ‘Jani Najani” along with Manish Chandra Shrestha and Namrata Shrestha.
