Nepal’s Transgender model Anjali Lama to make Hollywood debut

Internationally famed Nepal’s transgender model Anjali lama is all set to make Hollywood debut. She was the first-ever transgender woman to walk in Lakme fashion week and has been doing international projects. She would now make a Hollywood debut with Women’s stories.

The film comprises six segments that will have an all-female cast and will be directed by female directors from all across the world. Popular names such as Cara Delevingne, Eva Longoria, Margherita Buy, Marcia Gay Harden, and Leonor Varela will be seen in the film. Anjali Lama would be sharing the screen with Bollywood star Jacqueline Fernandez who is also making her Hollywood debut with the film. The segment titled Sharing a ride would be directed by filmmaker Leena Yadav. Yadav is credited for films such as Parched, Shabd, Teen Patti.

ABOUT WOMEN’S STORIES

Women’s stories is a film about the stories of women in films and media and how they are portrayed in the media. The film would be divided into six segments each with six stories to be told and directed by different directors all around the world.The film would be co-produced by Iervolino Entertainment and the non-profit production company We Do It Together.

The project will be a collaboration project of different known filmmakers such as Maria Sole Tognazzi, Lucia Puenzo, and Catherine Hardwicke. The film aims in  showcasing the stories of women from different walks of life. Stars like Cara Delevingne, Eva Longoria, Margherita Buy, Marcia Gay Harden, and Leonor Varela, among others, are also part of the project.

In an interview with Deadline , Chiara Tilesi, founder and president of We Do It Together, said,

“At We Do It Together, our mission is to enhance and change the image of women in films and media, from object to subject. We are dedicated to telling stories of women, both in front of and behind the camera. That’s why Women Stories is so important to us – we have brought together female directors, from all over the world, who collaborate and share personal stories from their own point of view. We are telling the stories of these heroines and their aspirations: from health workers to mothers, artists, and businesswomen, to name a few.”

The film would be six segments but only the first four segments have been mapped out:

  • Unspoken will be directed by Maria Sole Tognazzi and star decorated Italian actress Margherita Buy
  • Lagonegro will be directed by Lucia Puenzo and will star Longoria;
  • Elbows Deep will be directed by Twilight filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke and Suicide squad famed actress Delevingne, Oscar-winner Marcia Gay Harden  and Starter pack famed actress Jasmine Luv .
  • Sharing A Ride will be directed by Three cards famed filmmaker Leena Yadav  and would star Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez and transgender model Anjali Lama.
