Namrata Shrestha is Miss Nepal 2020. 23-year-old Namrata Shrestha beat 20 contestants to covet the title of Miss Nepal 2020. She had initially participated in Miss Nepal 2016 where she ended up in the Top 5 but failed in gaining any title. She participated in Miss Nepal in 2020 to fulfill her dream to be Miss Nepal and she won this time.
EARLY LIFE
Namrata was born and raised in Kathmandu. She is a certified Kindergarten teacher and has a master’s degree in Sociology. She aspires to be an impactful educator and sociologist in the future. She wanted to be Miss Nepal from her childhood and would make paper crowns and wear it . She dreamt of going to Miss world from her young age. It was her dream to become Miss Nepal and to represent Nepal on an international platform. She participated in Miss Nepal in 2016 to make her dream come true but she failed to earn any titles despite making it to the top 5. Asmi Shrestha was crowned Miss Nepal 2016 shattering her dreams.
In an interview, She said that after the grand finale of Miss Nepal 2016, she met Asmi Shrestha in her room where the crown was lying on the table. She asked Asmi if she could wear the crown for a moment and Asmi agreed but she couldn’t wear it . She said she didn’t want to wear it but earn it. She didn’t give up her dream. So, She participated in Miss Nepal in 2020 to make her dream come true.
MISS NEPAL 2020
Namrata Shrestha participated in Miss Nepal again with the hope to fulfill her dream to become Miss Nepal. Contestant number 18, Namrata Shrestha was then shortlisted as Top 21 finalist of Miss Nepal 2020. In the grand finale, She beat 20 contestants to win the title of Miss Nepal 2020. With the main title, She also won the Miss Confidence award. She was crowned by former Miss Nepal 2019 Anushka Shrestha.
When Namrata was asked ” Imagine you are beautiful small pebble gently dropped in a calm pond, What kind of longlasting ripple you want to spread for Nepali woman, She answered that Nepalese women are strong and she is inspired by her mom who has climbed her mountain in order to raise her three siblings. She says with positivity and kindness, we Nepalese women can win the world.
