Early Age and Education
She was born and raised in Dharan. She went to Marigold School till grade 5 and went to Bijayapur Higher Secondary School where she completed her SLC. She was very less speaking and introvert type of person in her childhood. In her childhood, she used to enjoy watching fashion shows on TV but she never thought she could be someone out there. After SLC, she moved to Kathmandu for her further career. She finished her MBA degree specialized in Marketing from Ace Institute of Management in Kathmandu.

Malina started her film career from movie “Ritu” where she played a lead role. Till then, she has appeared un number of the movies including ‘Rani’, ‘Leela’, ‘Samrakshan’,’The Winner’,’Timi Hunchau Jaha Jaha’.
She thinks that Ritu, the first film she participated in, was also a turning point in her life. Now that she has acted in more movies. She is very selective about the people she works with.
Journey to Miss Nepal
She was waiting for her MBA final semester result at the time when she participated in Miss Nepal. Her career completely changed after she won the coveted title of Miss Nepal World 2011. She represented Nepal in Miss World 2011 which was held on 4 November 2011 in London. She was also one of the top 10 contestants to perform the traditional dance in the competition. She was also on the top-30 for Beauty with a Purpose title, a major award at Miss World.
She was also among the top five finalists in Miss Angel 2010 contest. Although she did not win, she attained the Miss Intellect title award.
