Mr. Madan Rai is a young right activist from Nepal. He is a media entrepreneur, Researcher, Journalist and Lecturer of mass communication and journalism. He is an M.Phil. in Journalism and Bachelor in law. He is the President of the United Nations Youth and Student Association Nepal (UNYSAN). He works as an Editor-in-chief at The Youth Times. He leads the young journalists’ forum National Youth journalist Nepal as the president. He is a former delegate from Nepal in United Nations forum on Human rights, Rule of Law and Democracy. He represented Nepali Youth at WFUNA Youth Seminar: Kuala Lumpur as a delegate. Rai had worked a DPI Officer of WFUNA International MUN-2017 and had worked as Photographer for the same conference in 2015. He is a proactive and dynamic youth activist who took leadership of UNYSAN’s Earthquake Relief Campaign-2015.

Early Childhood & Education
Madan Rai was born and grew up in a rural village of Solukhumbu namely Jubu. His remote village still a one-day long far from the district headquarters. He studied up to his 7th grade in a local school. After that, he moved to the capital city of Nepal Kathmandu for further study in 2002 and joined Koteswor Saraswati Secondary School. In 2006, he finished School Leaving Certificate (SLC) in 2006. He was a curious type and a brilliant student. He was fueled by the statement “go above the average” from his very early age.
After completed SLC, he joined Campaign Academy (Humanities Faculty) in full a scholarship scheme. He has finished his undergraduate from Nims College in 20011. He joined Tribhuvan University to pursue his Master’s degree in journalism and mass communication in 2012 and completed in 2015. Law graduate Rai also has an LLB degree. Mr. Rai has completed his M. Phil in journalism and mass communication by this year only. Rai has a very excellent academic record.
Journey to the United Nations
Madan Rai is a newly elected president of United Nations youth and student association of Nepal (UNYSAN). He had served as vice-president and secretary-general in 2015 and 2017 respectively. He joined United Nations youth and student association in 2012 as a volunteer photographer later promoted to be an official photographer. He led UNYSAN’s earthquake relief team in 2015. He mobilized hundreds of volunteers and claims to have made the cheapest temporary toilet for the earthquake victims costing just 5 dollars in different districts of Nepal.
Mr. Rai had conducted different youth empowerment, participation, and engagement in Nepal. He has represented Nepal and Nepali youth in United Nations forum on human right, rule of law and democracy in Geneva, Switzerland in 2016. Rai had raised the voice there for ensuring human rights and democratic practices who have been working overseas. Similarly, he had worked as an organizing committee DPI Officer of WIMUN held in the general assembly hall of United nation in 2015 and 2017 at New York. He also had represented UNYSAN in WFUNA youth seminar on SDGs in 2017.
Research on Mundum Communication
Madan Rai belongs to a Kirat family. He has a great influence of Kirat religion. As he shares his religion worships nature most, ancestors and life.
As he broadened his scope and knowledge of journalism he got interested in finding communication pattern of the Kirat Mundum. He did dissertation research on “Mass communication practice on Mundum culture in 2015. Rai also did a different mini research on Mundum Communication. He again launched comprehensive research on Mundum communication and submitted as M.phil dissertation in the central department of journalism and mass communication entitled ” communication patterns of the Kirat Mundum’ in 2019.
Madan Rai penetrated his media career as a Radio jockey competition contest in 2007 from star Fm but later he switched to Aaja Ko Media as a photographer in 2008. In 2010, he initiated a magazine named ” Media Icon’ published regularly till 2013. Rai then got attracted to New Media and started a company E. News Park Pvt Ltd. to operate a news portal www.enewspark.com but later in 2015, he shifted it to www.sancharkarmi.com, a mainstream news portal from Nepal. Similarly, in 2016, he started another youth beat news portal The Youth Times and both of them are in operation. Rai leads as editor in chief and editor respectively. He is the founder president of National Youth Journalists of Nepal.
Mr. Rai’s first-ever profession was as a boarding school teacher in Bhaktapur city. He started his career as a lecturer from Nims College in 2015 right after completing his master’s degree. He taught media research, history and photography to Bachelor level’s student of humanities. Rai taught business research to bachelor’s business studies students. And he also taught managerial communication to the student of master’s in business. He has worked as a media tutor in the different institution of Nepal.
Mr. Rai is literate about the climate change and sustainable goals of the United Nations so he wants to contribute to saving the mother earth. He is preparing to launch a climate literacy talk in seven provinces of Nepal and an international climate jamboree too unite the youth to fight firmly against global warming and climate change. He is so determined to achieve the SDGs goal 13 by the deadline by hook and crook. He is so desperate to collaborate and work together with any individual and community to save the people and planet.
Mada Rai has set three plans for his future.
