The first edition of the Miss Universe Nepal pageant was held on 30th December 2020 where Anshika Sharma was crowned as Miss Universe Nepal 2020. She will be representing Nepal in Miss Universe 2021. Prior, the representatives of Miss Universe were selected from the runner-up in Miss Nepal but from this year, the representatives would be selected separately from Miss Universe Nepal under the guidance of Nagma Shrestha.
Anshika Sharma rose to fame when she ended up being the first runner up in Miss Nepal Oceania 2020. 23 year old is a professional sales analyst. She impressed everyone with her beauty and confidence and also won the title Miss Fierce award.
When Anshika was asked what is the one lesson that she had learned in covid 19, she answered that she has learned to be always ready for the challenges that life throws at her because life is uncertain. She also added that the government and individuals should be economically prepared as the pandemic has taught everyone that the economy is so important that everyone must be aware to secure their finances to move forward in life.
After arduous challenges and virtual training activities due to the pandemic of Covid 19, Miss Universe Nepal 2020 shortlisted 18 finalists who performed in the finale. On the show then they were cut down to 10 finalists who were Parichhya Bista, Sujita Basnet, Anshika Sharma, Priya Sigdel, Roshani Khatri , Dikta Thapa, Nina Kant Mandal, Nancy Khadka, Paramita Rana, and Arika Ranabhat.
The top 10 girls were given 30 seconds to answer the questions from the jury. The final cut of Top 5 was announced which included Sujita Basnet, Anshika Sharma, Nancy Khadka, Nina Kant Mandal, and Dikta Thapa. Nancy Khadka was awarded Miss Fabolous and announced 4th runner up in the show. Dikta Thapa was announced 3rd runner up whereas Nina Kant Mandal was announced 2nd runner up. Sujita Basnet was awarded Miss Lifestyle and 1st runner up in the show.
